Western Australia Welcomes Business Migrants

The Premier Destination “Down Under” for Business Migrants

The State of Western Australia leads the nation in economic growth, productivity, investment and exports. It is also a leader in the small business sector. In 1998/99 there were 106,600 small businesses in WA. Over a 15 year period to 1999, the average annual growth rate for small business was 4.9 per cent; higher than all other states and territories and higher than the Australian average of 3.7 per cent.

The State capital - Perth - is situated just a few kilometres from the white sandy beaches of the Indian Ocean.  Perth is a modern, clean city and boasts a Mediterranean climate. The State has a population of 1.8 million people.

From primary production and sophisticated manufacturing to state of the art telecommunications, Western Australia offers a solid foundation for new business development.

Historic economic strengths in agricultural and mineral commodities and - more recently - oil and gas still dominate the State’s exports.  However, WA is taking a more powerful position in the Australian and global economy, developing and exporting a diverse range of value-added goods and services.

Access to Asian markets is enhanced by WA sharing the same Business Time Zone with most Asian countries.  This means contact is possible during normal office hours.  A further benefit is the ability to contact Europe during Perth’s business hours.
